I called the management company last night and left a message. At 10:30 this morning, she still hadn’t called me back, so I left another message. She called me back around 4:30 this afternoon. We came to a wonderful agreement and I am very happy with it. Caleb and I wrote a letter to the complex manager last night detailing the problems we’ve had and that we think they are being dishonest by saying they never recieved our orders and had never been told we were leaving.
So, anyways, when the lady called me, she said she’d amend the move-out papers to say that our lease would expire on September4th and we’d just have to pay $120 for those 4 days. Yay!
I think one thing that helped was that the orders said they were printed on April 4th and the lady asked me about it. I told her we’d had the orders since before we moved out here and that we told the office people that before we signed the lease and I have e-mails from the complex manager where she confirms that she knew we were moving.
So, yeah, I think all that put together, and the fact that I was being super super nice to her (which is really hard for me to do 😉 ), made it easier for her to be nice. I told her we’d be willing to pay for the first week, but she said paying to the 4th would be just fine.
Sooooooo, our problem is resolved. Well, sorta. Once I get it in writing (which i insisted on getting before i made any further rent payments), then it will be resolved. Yay!
