So Caleb just got off the phone with IT1 in OK. IT1 said it’s probably not a good idea to go in the hole with leave. If we did that, Caleb wouldn’t be able to have any of the holidays off. Sooooooooo, we came up with a plan.
As of this very moment in time, here is out game plan: We’re not visiting anyone outside of Southern Utah. We’re getting packed up on the 2nd, packed out on the 3rd and having our move-out inspection on the 4th. Then we immediately leave to go to Utah, which should take about 2-3 days. The latest we’d get there is the 6th. We’d stay there for five days, leaving on the 11th. That would have us arriving in OK sometime on the 12th. Caleb will check in to his command and then we will check in to our hotel.
Doing it this way makes it so we can see family sometime before 2009. We were looking at Caleb’s leave and this trip is taking up all but maybe one day of leave. His leave accrues at 2.5 days per month, so we would have about 8 days of leave at Christmas. It takes 17 hours to drive to Utah, so we’re not sure we want to do that so soon. But, things can always change. We’re also saving up leave days so we can go on a cruise next summer. We want to do something big and fun for our third wedding anniversary. But we’ll see what happens.
So, as of this very moment in time, we’re going to be in Utah sometime between the 6th and the 11th. This is the Navy, though, so write in pencil boys and girls. 🙂
