Feature Friday: Stephanie Coronado

Today’s feature is Stephanie Coronado. She’s a single mom, fitness enthusiast and Beachbody coach. I met her when I started doing P90X last year and she has been amazing at encouraging me to reach my fitness goals.

  • Hi, Stephanie! I’m so happy you’ve decided to take part in my feature series. Please tell us a little about yourself.
    • I’m 29 years old. I love scary movies and being active outdoors.  I was raised in the country in Southwest Texas and moved to Houston, TX, 8 years ago.  I love both the country and city.  I’m an introvert, but can be outgoing once you get to know me.  My favorite way to pass my time is relaxing on the couch watching movies with my son and boyfriend.
  • What got you interested in fitness?
    • I have always been active throughout my childhood and high school years. After having my son though I needed energy and knew I needed to get active again to keep up with him.
  • How long have you been a Beachbody coach and what is it that made you want to work with them?
    • A year and half. I have a friend who is so passionate about it and I feel in love with P90X and Shakeology I had to give it a try.
  • What is it exactly that you do as a Beachbody coach?
    • I help others reach their health, fitness, and financial goals with our products/support.
  • What is your favorite part of being a Beachbody coach?
    • Having strangers become friends and seeing them motivate themselves and others and seeing their passionate for fitness come out.
  • What is your favorite Beachbody series? Have you tried them all?
    • P90X is still my favorite workout program. I have not tried them all.  There really is so many programs out there and new ones coming all the time.
  • Does your son work out with you? If so, does he enjoy it?
    • Oh yeah! He tells me in the evenings “it’s time to workout mom.”  He love stretching/yoga.  He tells everyone “I can do downward dog.”

  • Aside from doing the Beachbody fitness videos, what else do you do to stay in shape?
    • I do lift heavy weights at the gym twice a week and I just started running. I’m training for my first half marathon in November.
  • As a fitness coach, what would you say is the most important part of staying fit?
    • Eating habits! You can train harder and get the best results if you put the right foods in your body.  I got amazing results using 21 day fix portion containers/meal guide then just doing P90X on its own without eating clean.  I don’t like to say diet either.
  • Sometimes people get discouraged when they work out. That’s fairly normal, wouldn’t you say? What do you say to people you coach when they start to get discouraged with their results?
    • We all get discouraged. I go down a list to make sure they aren’t doing something wrong and give them help tips that may give them the results they are looking for. I’m big on giving motivational quotes to remind them they are doing an awesome job.  Plus I love to have my challengers in a support group to keep motivated with others going through the same journey.
  • Do you ever struggle with fitness? What gets you through those times?
    • Once I started my first job I didn’t do anything but work and drink and eat fast food. Then after getting through a hard pregnancy and having no energy I knew I needed to change my ways so I could enjoy having fun with my son.  A kid will change your outlook on your life so much.  Plus having a support from my friend has always been helpful too.
  • And, last but not least, are you accepting new members to guide through the Beachbody fitness lifestyle?
    • Each month I open up a facebook support group for new members.  I love helping you guys and seeing/hearing your progress.Stephanie Coronado3

I love her little tattoo!! This makes me want to be more healthy. I’ve gotten out of the routine with three kids in the last 4 years, but clearly it IS doable with children.

THAT body!!! I am not sure how hard she worked out just to achieve it but I really congratulate her for having this kind of disicpline. She’s a star of her own league. I want to that kind of discipline to become physically fit.

She sounds inspiring! I started bringing a friend to the gym last week and it’s kinda neat to see how we can challenge each other. I never used the indoor track before and realized how different it is from the treadmill. I think being friends with the right people can bring out the best in you. Stephanie sounds like a great friend and instructor.

What a great interview and I always like to learn things about new people! I like coaches throughout my life who have been inspirations, motivational, without overwhelming me making me feel like I HAVE to do something!

I have always wanted to try out the PX90 DVDs…my brother did some of them, but I don’t think he really followed through with it. Looks like a really intense workout. It must be really fun to be a coach for something you really like doing yourself.

Great interview! She sounds remarkable and inspiring! This is definitely something I need to work on, making some healthy lifestyle changes that incorporate some weight training to increase muscle.
