10 Minute Life Update

It has been a looooooooooooong time since I’ve written and I’m trying to get back into it. I’m aiming to do weekly life updates on Sunday and random other posts periodically. I also need to do a post about our wedding, how Tim and I met, how it is being a stepmom, and all the fun projects we’ve done. I will get those done. For today, I’m sticking with a rundown of how life is going and what happened last week so I can get this ball rolling.

WHAT I LOVED ABOUT THE LAST WEEK:

This last week was a bit rough because I had a stomach bug for most of the week. It seems to be gone now, though, so yay! I also had an interview for a job I really want. Same company, just different division. With zero on-the-job experience, I didn’t even think I’d get an interview, but the interview was this past Monday and it went really well. It wasn’t to be, though. They called me on Friday to tell me they’d chosen someone else for the position, someone they had worked with before. I was a bit bummed, but she told me to be sure to apply again if another position with them opens up in the future. Overall, it was a positive experience and I’m glad I went for it. I’ll keep going at my current job and keep an eye out for the next opening. Another highlight from last week is that Tim brought me some super pretty flowers.

THIS WEEK’S CUTE PICTURES OF SADIE:

I decided to have a section for Sadie because, let’s face it, she’s freakin adorable and everyone needs to be graced with her cuteness.

WHAT I DID THIS WEEKEND:

It’s been a chill weekend so far. Yesterday I tried to sleep in, but Sadie decided to boop my nose a few times just before 9am and I couldn’t go back to sleep. That actually is sleeping in, but I was hoping for a couple more hours. I spent most of the day cleaning the house, reorganizing the storage closet, rearranging underneath the bathroom sink, and trying to figure out where to put some things from the living room. I’m very much in a spring cleaning mood.

Tim and I were supposed to rearrange all the pictures around the house today, but we are both so exhausted that we’ve just been relaxing and just hanging out together. Tim took a nap for a while and I’ve mostly been working on organizing my hard drive. Several years ago, I had a 4TB external drive fail and had to do data recovery on it. That resulted in sooooooo many duplicates. It’s been very tedious having to go through them all to see which recovered files I need to keep and which I can get rid of. I’ve made a lot of progress, but there’s still a lot left to go through. I spend a few weeks working on it every now and again and then I get bored and put it on the backburner for a while. The end is in sight, though, so I need to keep on it.

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO:

I actually don’t have any big plans right now. Nothing solid, anyways. Tim is working on getting his passport right now so we can start figuring out our honeymoon. I also need to get the name changed on mine. Once our passports arrive, we can start looking at ticket prices. I’m really excited to travel again. We’ve done a few road trips and we went to Utah to spend Christmas with my family, but we haven’t done any REAL trips together. I’m really looking forward to going on a trip with Tim.

PLANS FOR THE UPCOMING WEEK:

I’ve got a four-day weekend and am so happy about it. Tomorrow I’m going to work more on file organization and then Tuesday we’re going up to Washington for Emily’s second orchestra concert. Tim and I both have Tuesday off, so we’re going to make a day date out of it. We’re going to go up to Portland for lunch, check out a couple shops, and then drive up to Olympia. The rest of the week is going to be the usual.

WHAT I’M NERVOUS ABOUT:

Stuff

WHAT I’VE BEEN DAYDREAMING ABOUT:

Going back to London, hiking the mountains in Hawaii, exploring Canada. All with Tim.

HOW WORK IS GOING:

Work is going well. I’ve been learning a lot and taking on a lot of extra responsibilities. I was part of the team that did information gathering and layout suggestions to redesign the website. I’m now part of the team that’s reviewing forms and instruction booklets for accuracy and readability. I am the official note-taker for our staff meetings and I was asked to be part of the website testing team. I think that starts in the next month or two. I’ve also been working on restructuring some training materials in my free time because that’s just something I enjoy doing.

And, because this means a lot to me, two of my supervisors are aware I applied for the other job and they were 100% supportive of it. They said they thought I’d go for it and I’d do really well in that position. I really love how growth-minded they are with all the employees.

DATE NIGHT:

For date night this week, we did a bunch of random stuff. I had a ‘get a free item’ certificate for Bath & Body Works, so we went to the mall. I got an orange ginger body wash, which is my absolute favorite. Tim got some car freshener refills. We also had fun looking at some of the weird and outlandish items they’re selling now.

After that, we got some candy from the candy store, checked out a novelty store, and looked at some of the games in the mall arcade. The only game we were interested in wasn’t working, so we didn’t stay long.

We stopped by Hobby Lobby for a few minutes to find something for a surprise we’re making for Emily. And to look for inspiration for things to make for the other kids. They didn’t have what I was looking for, so we’re looking into other options.

To end the evening, we played video games for a couple hours. It was a nice and low-key date night.

HOW EXERCISE IS GOING:

It’s going okay. Gym has been really inconsistent, but I have been getting four walks in each week this month. I’ve been walking between 2-4.5 miles each time. Tim and I have also gone on a handful of hikes over the last couple months. Last year we were doing one hike a week most weeks. It stopped once there wasn’t much light after work. It’s been nice going on hikes again.

WHAT BOOK I’M READING:

I’ve been working on reading the books the kids are interested in. The only problem with that is it takes so long to get each book from the library. I’m halfway through the Wings of Fire series Anna and Emily were obsessed with last year. Emily is reading the series again and Anna has moved on to the whole Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus series. They both really liked Keeper of the Lost Cities, too. I plan on reading them all, but I will obviously be very much behind. It’s an estimated 10 weeks until the first Keeper of the Lost Cities is available, about 10 weeks until the first Percy Jackson book is available, and 7ish weeks until the next Wings of Fire book is available.

While I’m waiting for those books, I’ve been reading the Truly Devious series, the Scorch Trails series, the Selection series, and the Ranger’s Apprentice series. They’re all mostly good. The Selection is mostly fluff, but isn’t terrible. It’s better than Twilight. There’s a Hunger Games vibe to it, but instead of fighting to the death in an arena for the entertainment of the country, it’s a whole bunch of girls trying to win the heart of the prince in a televised competition for the entertainment of the country. Less death and more triviality. Of all the series I’m reading, that’s the one I’ll probably never read again. lol

GOALS FOR THIS WEEK:

Reached some of my goals, but not all of them. That’s okay, though. None of these really have a deadline, so I’ll just keep these the same as before.

  • Fitness
    • Get to the gym three times
    • Go on four walks
  • Personal
    • Stay as close to macros as possible every day except cheat day
    • Find two additional keto recipes to add to meal rotation
  • Religious
    • Read one chapter of scriptures a day
    • Fill out Come Follow Me study guide for the week
    • Update bulletin board at church

WHAT ELSE IS NEW:

Not much else is new right now. Life has been wonderful and I’m in a really good place.

So, I guess that’s everything. Hope everyone has a wonderful week!
