More Vacation Rundown

Okay, so I already talked about Saturday and Sunday. Now I will tell about the rest of the week. Yes, this will be long. lol.

Monday we had dinner at with Caleb’s family. During the day, after we woke up, we went to visit my friends at WIC, my best friend Jill and then spent FOREVER at Sears trying to decide which pictures to get. Caleb’s mom, RoseAnn and I were sharing a package deal, so we had to figure out how to split it up. For the first hour (i’m so not kidding) we all just sat there without anyone making a decision, so I finally decided which package would be best based on what we all could afford and then it was fairly simple. I wrote down what everyone wanted and then it was smooth sailing from there. Well, for them. lol. Neither of them would focus and make decisions, so I did it all. I got them all of the pictures they wanted in the sizes they wanted and got some for me and Caleb, too. By the time it was all done, we’d been there for 3 hours! It does not take 3 hours to select pictures! I was so irritated by then that I just wanted to leave. Caleb let me take the car and I went to visit my sister at her work. I had wanted to buy some new clothes, so I spent some time looking at clothes. I found a TON of things I wanted. lol. I couldn’t buy them then, though, because my sister was the only management person there and she couldn’t apply her discount to her own sale. So, I had to go back another day when another manager could ring up the sale with Patty’s discount. After that I met up with Caleb, his mom, Lee and Naci at Pizza Factory. That place has good food. Yum. I wish they had one in Oklahoma.

Tuesday we were supposed to go to Draper to tour the Temple Open House, but there was a bad storm up north and we decided that the roads were too bad to drive on. It made me sad. I really wanted to go up there. It was going to be me, Caleb, Naci and Patty. We were going to go to the Distribution Center and pick up a few things, do the open house, go to the mall for a little while and have dinner at The Mayan, Caleb’s favorite restaurant. Oh well. We’ll go see the Temple another time.

Instead of all that, we ended up just hanging out. We slept in really late, too. It was so nice to be able to sleep late and not have to worry about where we have to go and who we have to see. It was a day where we could truly take it easy.

The first thing we did was go by the Relief Society house in Washington where we had our Open House after we got sealed. They made a brick for us and put it on the wedding walk, so we wanted to get pictures of it. There was a lady there that gave me all sorts of stuff to put in our scrapbook about the building. It was cool. She also wants us to send her a picture of us for the building scrapbook with our names and the date of our open house. I haven’t gone through our pictures yet, but I’ll post whichever one we decide to send her. Here is our brick. Caleb’s mom picked the design and she chose a really cute one. We both really like it:

After that I hung out with my mom while Caleb went to visit both of his Grandpas. Dad had showed us how to use some genealogy software, so Caleb went to get all the genealogy stuff from his Grandpa Wilcox. I’m way excited about it. Now we’ve got most of Caleb’s mom’s side, some of my mom’s, some of Larry’s and a bunch of dad’s (which don’t really matter because they aren’t blood relatives, but it’ll still be nice to have). We’re going to start working on it all once we get moved. I’m so excited!

Here’s a picture of Caleb with Grandpa Nielson only because Caleb forgot to get a picture of him and Grandpa Wilcox. Silly person.

After Caleb got done visiting his grandpas we went back to my sister’s work to get the clothes I wanted (Caleb bought them for me as an early Valentine’s present) and visit with her for a while. Then we grabbed Chaurie and Naci and went up to Cedar to have dinner with Cirk and RoseAnn. While we were waiting for RoseAnn to get done with her cake decorating class, I snuck some pictures of Gage sleeping. I didn’t want to wake him by turning on the light, so it took me a few tries to get the angle right on my phone in the dark:

We ate at Applebee’s and had a fun time with all of Caleb’s siblings. Well, minus Trevor, who is a workaholic and never had time for us. *cries*

Wednesday was Mom Day. lol. We decided that we were going to spend an entire day with our moms so they’d get their ‘alone time’ and not feel left out or that we weren’t spending enough time with them. We ended up sleeping in a bit first, though. lol. That’s what vacations are for, right?

For my day with mom, we ran a bunch of errands and went to the mall. We bought Valentine’s presents for our honeys and then window shopped. At Sears I got Caleb a cordless saudering iron with tips small enough to work on electronics and a multi-sized mini clamp set. He drools all over anything tool-ish whenever commercials come on and he loves the tool section of any store we go to. He’s been wanting to fix his digital camera for a while, but didn’t have the tools to do it, but now he does! At Tuesday Morning I got him a golf glove (he’s developed a passion for everything golf) and a golf kit (shoe cleaner, shoe bag, golf balls, ball cleaner, tees, ball marker, etc).

For me I got some undershirts (seriously, with today’s styles, everyone who wants to be modest needs a wide variety of undershirts in assorted colors and fabrics) and a bunch of scrapbooking supplies. I’m trying to get into scrapbooking. I have tons of paper, scissors, different cutters (shapes and edge designs), stickers, etc, but I have no idea how to do it! lol. I’m so pathetic. I’ve done a few pages and I’ve already decided that they need to be redone because they look crappy. I need a visit from the scrapbooking fairy so someone can show me how to do this. I’m not an artsy person, so this has been a little hard for me.

After we got all done with all that fun stuff, we had dinner at Caleb’s dad’s house. It was nice to sit down and spend some time with Carl and Carol. They made a wonderful dinner and we had a good time with them. Carl grilled some filet mignon and Carol made a really good cheesy potato dish and some cheese bread. Caleb got to show them how to access the blog and our picture page. It’ll be nice for them to be able to see what Caleb and I are up to and see pictures whenever they want to.

Thursday was another hectic day. lol. We decided that was going to be the day we went around to take pictures, so we stopped back by WIC and took some pictures:

Hopi, Me and Sue

Toni and Me

Remle and Me

We also went back by Jill’s house to get some pictures of her. She runs a daycare in her home (which it totally awesome!) so we had to get pictures in between a whole bunch of hyper little boys. lol. It was fun.

Me and Jill

After all that, we went to Costco with my mom so we could stock up on food storage stuff. I swear, we bought Costco out. lol. We seriously cannot go there without spending $200. Oh, and I got more scrapbooking stuff. lol.

That night, we went to the Temple with Caleb’s mom. It was so nice to get back to the Temple. It sucks having the Oklahoma Temple 45 minutes away. We wanted to get a house over by the Temple, but then Caleb would have to drive an hour to work every day. *sigh* I’m just glad we get to go as often as we do. In Virginia, the closest Temple was 4 hours away! North and South! I have no idea where the closest Temple to the West was. Everyone who has a Temple within their line of sight is very blessed. It was wonderful to go to the St George Temple. That one will always be special to me because that is where Caleb and I got our endowments and were sealed. It’s a beautiful Temple. I love it.

After the Temple we decided to go out to dinner. We went to Chili’s. It was yummy. And it was nice to have an evening to ourselves. We just talked and had a good time.

On Friday, we were supposed to go to Cedar City to see Cirk and RoseAnn, but they ended up coming down to St George. That, and Caleb slept until noon. lol. I kept trying to wake him up so we could get ready and go to Cedar, but he kept saying he wanted to sleep more, so I left him alone after 3-4 times. After he finally woke up, we grabbed some lunch and went to Fiesta Fun with Cirk and RoseAnn. It was fun! We played miniature golf and then we played a bunch of games in the arcade.

I meant to get more pictures, but got so caught up in having fun that I forgot to take pictures. It would have been hilarious to have a picture of me hanging on the rope over the water trying to get RoseAnn’s ball out of the water. lol. I got it, though! It was fun. In the arcade, Caleb and I got enough tickets to get Gage a stuffed snake. It was cute. Gage was chewing on it, so we’re assuming he liked it. Then there were just enough tickets left over that RoseAnn and I got matching friendship rings. lol. I should have gotten a picture of both of us wearing them, but alas, I didn’t even think of that until I was back in Oklahoma. Oh well. Here is a fuzzy picture of the ring. RoseAnn has a matching one.

After Fiesta Fun we tried to go back by Grandpa Wilcox’s house to get a picture, but he wasn’t home. So, since we had some free time to kill, we drove around and looked at all the things that had changed in St George. There are a lot of things that are still the same and a lot of things that have changed. For having a construction contract shortage, there sure are a lot of new buildings being built. We went up on the Black Hill to get some view shots. Here are some of our pictures:

After that, we made our way back to my mom’s house where we exchanged Valentine’s presents while packing. lol. It was very romantic. Here is what Caleb got me:

This is the picture from the Kay Jewelers website:

Here is the picture Caleb took:

On Thursday, after we went to Costco, mom and Caleb dropped me off at Barnes & Noble while they went and found something for Caleb to give me for Valentine’s Day. Caleb always gets me beautiful gifts, so he didn’t really need help picking it out. Mom was there more to make sure he didn’t spend a ton. He told me he’d found a ring for $4,000, but mom wouldn’t let him get it for me. lol. So he got the diamond necklace instead. I love it! It’s so beautiful!

Here is what I got myself for Valentine’s Day:

Here is what mom gave me:

After all that fun, we had dinner and played games with mom, dad and Patty. We played Mexican Train and a little bit of Ligretto. We didn’t finish, though, because dad had to go to bed and we still wanted to watch a movie. So, we watched Mamma Mia before going to bed. I was worried dad and Caleb wouldn’t like it, but they were both laughing all the way through it.

Saturday morning, we made it over to Grandpa Wilcox’s house and got pictures! Yay!

We didn’t stay long because we were on our way to Las Vegas! That was a strange trip. lol. We decided to stop by the casino to get our tickets because we forgot the receipt and we wanted to make sure there wouldn’t be any problems. It’s a good thing we stopped there first. Sheesh. We waited in line for over an hour to get the tickets. And there were only two people in front of us when we got there! Yikees. Then we decided to find out where the restaurant and the theater were. Luckily they were close to each other. Then we went out to Hoover Dam to tour it…….but didn’t tour it. lol. There was an accident on the way there, so we got to look at scenery and take pictures for a bit. Then, when we got to the dam, traffic was backed up from the security station all the way across the dam. So, we decided that we couldn’t do the tour AND make it back with this bad of traffic. So we turned around. While we were turning around in the parking garage, traffic cleared up! But we decided not to chance it and drove back. Here are some cool pictures of the construction they are doing on the new bridge:

We ended up going back to Vegas and wandering around different casinos. We went to the Silverton and got pictures of the ‘mermaid’ and some of the sealife:

Then we went to change and go to dinner at Valentino’s in the Venetian.

It was really good. The staff was great and the food was excellent. Though, I do think it’s a little crazy to charge $8.00 for a bottle of water! Yikes!

THEN…….THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA!!!! That was our Valentine’s present to each other. The play was amazing!

Phantom was an amazing play! Instead of a swordfight the Phantom shot a gun, which was strange, and they changed the words a bit, but for the most part it stayed true to the original. The special effects were so neat! We really enjoyed the experience.

After the play, we walked around Las Vegas Blvd. We watched The Sirens of TI and the fountains at the Bellagio. It was really really cold, and I was wearing a knee-length skirt, so we went back to the car and made the trip home.

The next morning, we had breakfast over at Caleb’s mom’s house and then we left!
