5-Minute Summary

So, at a church activity this past Thursday we talked about journaling and keeping a record of our lives. I used to be super good at that. When I was in middle school I had a physical journal that I’d carry around with me and write in it whenever I had free time. Then, in high school, a friend introduced me to Open Diary (anyone remember that?) where I made an online diary under a screen name. I loved that thing. Wrote in it multiple times a day. Then some bonehead hacked the servers and deleted a lot of people’s diaries, mine included. 5 years worth of entries, poof. Gone. It was really depressing and I just couldn’t get myself to start writing in a journal again. Then, I discovered blogging.

When I first started my blog in 2007, it kinda became an online diary again, but then I realized that I couldn’t be as open with my thoughts and feelings because my blog was a lot more public and accessible than my online diary. I got in trouble a few times for being too open with what was on my mind. Even lost a job. So, I learned to keep my blog vague and less emotive.

Anyhow, after the activity on Thursday I decided that I’d start doing a little write-up on Sundays about how my week went, anything special that happened and what went on in my life. We’ll see how this goes for a few weeks and as long as nobody spazzes out at me, I’ll make it a permanent thing. So, here goes my first 5-minute rundown of last week.

This past week was pretty good. School started on Monday, but I didn’t actually start looking at any of my homework until Tuesday. Well, I looked at the syllabuses (syllabi?) on Monday to make sure I didn’t have any homework to do and since I didn’t, I gave myself a day off. lol. I went to the gym with my friend, Rebekah, and we had a really great time. If you really want to know more about how my week went with school, read this post here.

Back to the gym. Rebekah and I went to the gym a couple times this week and are going to make it a habit. She and I are going to be workout buddies from now on. We decided today that we are going to work out on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays together. That’s good because it forces me to stick with my goal of working out 3-4 days a week. Plus, Troy bought an exercise bike, so that will help me, too. On days we don’t go to the gym, I can just pop on there for 45 minutes and at least get some exercise during that day.

OH! Speaking of exercise. I’m so excited! For Christmas, Troy got me an Amazon gift card because the present I wanted wasn’t available yet. Troy only gets me one big present a year and since he couldn’t get me what I wanted for Christmas, he got me a gift card so I could get it later. And, last week, it finally went on sale! Yay! I bought the Fitbit Charge HR on Thursday and it should be here tomorrow. I’m so excited! Troy’s parents also got me a gift card to Amazon and I got myself some new workout clothes, a roller thingy that my gym has that really helps my back feel good and a cable for my external hard drive. I need to remember to tell them thank you. All of that arrives tomorrow. Yay!

Other than that, last week wasn’t too eventful. Troy had the flu and was sick most of the week. The only day he worked was Friday. He also (finally) got his heart monitor. Poor guy has been having arrhythmias for the past few months. It’s been stressing both of us out, so I’m glad the cardiologist finally called and got him all set up with the monitor. He turns it in tomorrow and then we wait again. But at least the process is moving. Cross your fingers and say prayers that it’s nothing serious.

Well, that ends my 5-minute summary. I hope you enjoyed it!

And, just for fun, here are some goals I have for next week:

  1. Stay caught up with homework
  2. Keep on track with my blog
  3. Get to the gym three times and increase my weights on Thursday
  4. Eat healthier (this week i did really really bad)
  5. Get off the computer and read my library book

I like the idea of keeping a diary, and your journal sounds like a good idea. That way, you stay accountable and have a record of what you did. It must have been devastating to lose all that information. Maybe use a free storage in the cloud.
